Hey everyone! My name is Andrew Cordasco, and I am the Director of Student Ministries here at LPC. I am originally from the east coast of Virginia, where I spent all of my childhood growing up. I spent a year at the University of Virginia, then three years at Liberty University, and played football for most of my time through college. My only exposure to this area of the country was through Kanakuk Kamps, where I was a kamper for 4 years.
After college, I enrolled in the Kanakuk Institute, an 8-month post-grad discipleship program in Branson, MO. I graduated from KI and stayed on staff as a recruiter for the program for two years. I met my incredible wife Emily (a KU grad and Kansas native) through the Kanakuk Institute, and we got married in April of this year! We are excited for the opportunity to do ministry together here at the church and in the community. We also are excited for all the different pizza shops here in town we get to pick for date nights!!
Most of my hobbies are some form of competition (really any sport, card game, or Settlers of Catan), but I also enjoy fishing, playing the drums, and recently have started to train myself to read more (Mom always said that leaders are readers)! While a die-hard Steelers fan, I am definitely going have a hard time saying no to a Royals/Chiefs games now.
The Lord has implanted on my heart a big passion for discipleship. The apostle Paul told his disciple, Timothy, "...the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2). I get excited about getting to do the same. Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, modeled discipleship perfectly. He pursued others, built relationships with others, invested time in others, and purposefully laid down His life for them and us. My hope is to model His method, and to invest in others who will be able to do the same.
I am really excited to get to know the students here at LPC, and am just as excited to build relationships with families, as the family is such an integral part of any ministry. If there is anything I can ever do, please don't hesitate to reach out, and please come stop by the Mustard Seed house and say hello!
