2009 Summer Playgroup
We are looking forward to a great summer! We will be meeting every Wednesday for the next ten weeks. Five of our ten meetings will include service projects. We want to serve our church and community and also teach our children to serve. Everyone is welcome, please bring friends, neighbors, grandmas, etc!!! The Tale of Despereaux movie
Meet in the lobby at 9:40 for the 10:00 movie. Tickets are $2.50 for age 4 and up. The movie is 94 minutes long and rated G. They have boosters so little ones can have a better view, and specials on concessions. After the movie, we’ll have lunch at CiCi’s Pizza, about $5 for a buffet for ages 4 and up.

Funky Mama concert
This free concert at the Matt Ross Community Center begins at 10:00. Afterwards, we’ll head to South Lake Park to play and have a picnic. Please bring a lunch for your family.

Deanna Rose
We’ll meet outside of the entrance at 10:00 to enjoy this free attraction. Then, we’ll enjoy all Deanna Rose has to offer until noon, when we’ll have lunch at the picnic tables outside of the entrance. Please bring a lunch for your family.

LPC Bayou Transformation
Meet at the church at 10:00 to help with VBS preparations. We will have kid-friendly projects! Bring a lunch and we’ll picnic on the playground after the work is done!

Baby Shower for City Union Mission
Today we will be helping to meet the needs of homeless families in Kansas City. The City Union Mission has a need for disposable diapers, pull-ups, and baby wipes. Bring what you are able to donate to Brookridge Park at 10:30. We will have a time to pray for the homeless and ask God’s blessing upon our gifts. Bring a picnic lunch and we’ll eat together and play on the playground and in the large open space.

Service Project for Homebound LPC Members
Today we will be visiting homebound members of our church. Please bring a dozen of your best cookies and anything else that might be a blessing to the homebound, such as fresh flowers or vegetables from your garden. Meet at church at 10:00 to find out who you will be visiting, then we’ll break up for the visits. Return to the church at noon with a lunch for your family and we’ll have a picnic on the playground.

VBS Concert
After a full week at VBS last week, I think we all have the songs playing through our heads even as we sleep! Let’s put this knowledge to good use as the kiddos perform a selection of their favorites for a local nursing home. Be sure to have the kids wear their VBS shirts!
