The Underground
The Underground is LPC's student ministry. Why The Underground? The Underground is the result of something the Holy Spirit began stirring in our hearts in the Spring of ’09. Two verses really lift up the heartbeat behind the Underground. Judges 2:10 says, “After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord, nor what He had done for Israel.” One generation said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” But then the next generation neither knew Him or nor what He had done.
Luke 1:17 gives the commission of John the Baptist as this, “and he will go on before the Lord, in the Spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fatehrs to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous-to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
As a communty church we are choosing to invest in a generation that many have given up on. With God’s leading our church family wants to make a people ready and “Awaken a Generation to the glory of God.” There are tons of unchurched teenagers in our city, and one by one we want introduce them to the Savior of the world.
The Underground is more than just a place to go. It’s a place to be, belong, and become. The Underground is more than a building, it is a starting place to reveal who God is, connect to Jesus and His family, and be sent out to advance the Kingdom with our everyday lives. The Underground is the sending place for a new generation of Christ followers. For more information, email underground@leawoodpres.org.
LPC Kids
At Leawood Presbyterian Church we value families, and part of that is loving children. Your kids will be in a fun and safe environment with professional child care attendants. Each week we will sing songs, play games and hear stories from the Bible that will inspire living a life of love. We want to partner with families and be a blessing by encouraging and equipping parents to be the best they can for their children.
Join us on Sunday evenings for Kid's Quest (k-4) from 4p - 5:30pm and on Sunday mornings for Li'l K (preschool), KidMo (k-4) or club56 (5-6 graders) during the worship service at 10:30am!
Do you have what it takes to be a ministry partner working with the children’s ministry? If so, we’d love to hear from you and find a way to get you involved! You can contact us at children@leawoodpres.org to find out more!
Community Pod Groups
One thing that we place a lot of emphasis on at LPC is community--engaging with each other and with our community to have a deeper and more lasting impact in the lives of others.
We work towards this goal of more engaged community, we’ve launched “Community Pod Groups.” We approach these as an opportunity to connect with others who have similar interests and to begin to engage in life together through meeting weekly for a meal and study.
This fall, we have several pod group options to engage and grow! Click here for more information on the different offerings and to register, if needed.
Local Missions
LPC places a high value on SERVICE as an opportunity to engage those around us while BEING the church and DOING God’s work. We’ve been commanded to love our neighbors, and we take that seriously.
Through partnerships and financial support of area ministries such as the Urban Scholastic Center, St. Mary's Kitchen, Freedom Fire and others we’re able to be involved in the community around us and build lasting relationships. Whether its serving dessert at St. Mary’s Kitchen, collecting toys for the Hope Center or just keeping things clean and available here at the church, we’re involved in service.
For more information on how you can get involved, contact the office at missions@leawoodpres.org and we’d love to connect on ways to serve!
Iron Men: Men's Ministry
At LPC, we think its vitally important to be about the business of "being disciples and making disciples," or more simply a "be one, make one" style of living. To help us accomplish that, we've set up some valuable tools for the men of our community, to equip them to be better leaders, better followers of Christ, better husbands or dads or brothers or sons--just better.
Our primary focus right now is on weekly study and accountability. If you're interested in joining us (and you're a man) currently we meet every Monday morning at 6:15am at the church. Currently, we're taking a deeper look at biblical manhood using the Men's Fraternity curriculum. Email IronMen@leawoodpres.org for more details.
