At Leawood Presbyterian Church we are learning about what it means to worship and live for God. We believe this is a holistic pursuit. Because we are human beings who have an economic life, worshiping God includes a progressive and joyful surrender of our financial life to God and his purposes in the world.
The Bible teaches more about the issue of money than it does about many other topics. Having a healthy understanding of and relationship to money is critical to live life fully in the way of Jesus. For followers of Jesus giving away 10% of our resources has served as a healthy measurement of our financial life. While this number is not set in stone, and some may choose to give more, we believe the giving away of 10% of what we have control over has served as a starting point for followers of Jesus, taught in the Bible and practiced by Christians throughout history.
As people who follow the God revealed by Jesus Christ, we believe we are called to a life of ever-increasing generosity. In the same way, we believe in responsible stewardship including a debt-free life. Presently, the only debt we have as a church is for the newly acquired property to the west of the church. Our operating budget is freely available to any who wish to see it, and will be posted here soon.
We provide several different ways that you can participate in our financial life. You can give when you worship with us on Sundays. Before or after the service, you can find a small wooden tithe box located at the back of the sanctuary behind the last pew as you approach the door.
