LPC exists to KNOW God, to GROW in the likeness of Jesus, to SHOW God's glory, and to GO make disciples.

Sermon Series

Now that's courage!

Anyone can take a look around our community or country and realize we are in trouble. One of the greatest causes of our decline is the lack of godly fathers in the home. Join our church as we learn what God requires of fathers as we go through Honor Begins at Home: A 4-week sermon series based on the movie Courageous.  We will show the movie at the church on Monday, March 19th at 8:00pm, launching an 8-week Bible study.

Community Pod Groups

In the fast-paced society in which we live, it's easy to see church as just another event on our calendars if we're not careful.  The early church modeled for us a different way of life, however, and we've drawn from their example and principles to create "Community Pod Groups."

One thing that we place a lot of emphasis on at LPC is community--engaging with each other and with our community to have a deeper and more lasting impact in the lives of others. We are working toward this goal of a more engaged community through “Community Pod Groups.”

Community Pod Groups are built on four foundations:

Becoming a Celebrating, Joyful group.

Becoming a Learning Community, where you engage God's Truth, seek to understand, and put learning into practice.

Becoming a Loving Community, where you share Christ's love with one another.

Becoming a Serving Community, serving one another and the world around you.

(Celebrate-Learn-Love-Serve)

We have several pod group options to engage and grow! Click POD GROUPS for more information on the different offerings and to register, if needed.

LPC Kids

At Leawood Presbyterian Church we value families and love children. Our mission is to assist parents in raising Spiritual Champions. We use Barna's definition of Spiritual Champions as "Individuals who have embraced Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord; accept the Bible as truth and as the guide for life; and seek to live in obedience to its principles and in search of ways to continually deepen their relationship with God. Spiritual Champions live in ways that are noticeably different from the norm -- even when compared to the average churchgoer." We look to the Deuteronomy 6 model in that parents are the primary spiritual leaders in a child's life. Everything we say and do ultimately points our children either towards or away from our savior. Deut. 6 also implies a community that collectively assists parents and builds relationships with the children in the church. Here at Leawood Pres, we want to partner with families and be a blessing by encouraging and equipping parents to be what God has designed and intended them to be for their children.

Join us on Sunday mornings for Li'l K (Preschool), Jesus, What a Savior (Kindergarten), KidMo (1st-4th grade) or Club 56 (5th-6th grade) during the worship service at 10:30am! Your kids will be in a fun and safe environment with dedicated child care attendants.  Each week we will sing songs, play games, and hear stories from the Bible that will inspire living a life of love.

Do you have what it takes to be a ministry partner working with the children’s ministry? If so, we’d love to hear from you and find a way to get you involved! You can contact us at children@leawoodpres.org to find out more.

What is the Underground?

The Underground is the result of something the Holy Spirit began stirring in Michelle and Kendall Reeves' hearts in the Spring of ’09.

I want to share two verses that are the heartbeat behind the Underground.

Judges 2:10 says, “After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord, nor what He had done for Israel.”  One generation said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  But then the next generation neither knew Him or nor what He had done.

Luke 1:17 gives the commission of John the Baptist as this, “And he will go on before the Lord, in the Spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous-to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Our goal is to invest in a generation that most have given up on.   With God’s leading, our church family wants to make a people ready and “Awaken a Generation to the glory of God.”  There are tons of unchurched teenagers in our city, and one by one we want to introduce them to the Savior of the world.  The Underground is more than just a place to go.  It’s a place to belong, believe and become.  The Underground is more than a building, it is a starting place to reveal who God is, connect to Jesus and His family, and be sent out to advance the Kingdom with our everyday lives.  The Underground is the sending place for a new generation of Christ followers.

The Underground is more than just a place to go.  It’s a place to Belong, Believe and Become (B3).  The Underground is more than a building, it is a starting place to reveal who God is, connect to Jesus and His family, and be sent out to advance the Kingdom with our everyday lives.  The Underground is the sending place for a new generation of Christ followers.

Many activities for students include hang-out times, house parties, service projects and larger scale events.  These will offer opportunities for students to get to know us and one another.  By engaging students in service, worship and mentoring, our hope is that they will feel comfortable first belonging to The Underground, and then, through the relationships and teaching that they will experience, begin to believe in Jesus Christ and become more like Jesus and seek to reach out to their friends and their community.
